Over 100 local ladies got the chance to wear their wedding dresses again at a charity Moth Ball last week raising funds for local Sutton charity YMCA Sutton Coldfield.
The event, hosted by Moor Hall Hotel, was the first of its kind for the venue and provided a unique opportunity for those wanting the chance to unveil their wedding dresses once again.
With a pianist, drinks reception, wedding cake and a four course meal with speeches, the evening was reminiscent of a real wedding resplendent with a room full of brides. The dancefloor in Moor Hall’s suite was transformed into a sea of white as guests from as far as London enjoyed the evening’s entertainment and fundraising.
Katie Hale attended the event in support of the Chamber’s chosen charity:
It’s a pleasure to support the YMCA as our chosen charity, but even more so when they come up with fantastic events such as the Moth Ball. A truly fantastic evening where everyone really got into the spirit of the theme; well done to the team.
Katie Hale, President of Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce
Over £2,700 was raised on the evening for YMCA Sutton Coldfield who deliver respite, support and safe spaces for disadvantaged children and young people in the local area.
Anita Ellis explains the importance of community support to the charity’s work:
As a small, self-funded charity, local support is vital to our success and events like this help us to raise awareness of the young people on the margins of society who need our support to fulfil their potential. We’re so grateful to everyone who donated their services to make the night such a success. In particular, I’d like to thank Louise Dempster and the team at Moor Hall for all their hard work and all the local businesses who donated raffle and auction prizes.
